5 Things to Update on your Website Every Year

There’s no better time to make some website updates than at the beginning of the year! Because real talk, oftentimes we get so busy running our businesses that we can forget to make updates to our website. Oopsies…

Here’s the thing though, having an updated website is so important for our businesses. It’s where potential clients and customers are visiting to learn about us and our services/products so you want to make sure it’s up-to-speed! You don’t have to make huge updates to your website every year either… we’re just talking about keeping it up-to-date. Although, you know we’re here to help if you’re also in need of a website redesign! 😉

Here’s a rundown of the things you should check on your website each year:

Any Dated Content

Nothing makes your website look outdated than having dated content that isn’t up-to-date. Now say dated 3 more times! 😂 Here are some things to check on your website:

  • First and foremost make sure the copyright year in your website is current

  • Check stats throughout your website - anything that should be updated

  • Update any mention of how long you’ve been in business

  • Update any mention of dates for launches or client availability

Some of these things likely should actually be updated more than just annually but definitely make sure to do a thorough run-through for these at least once a year.

Check Services & Pricing

Did you make any changes to your services in the last year? How about your pricing? Go through your website and make sure that you indeed are still offering all of the services featured on your website. As well as making sure any yearly price changes have been reflected.

Client Testimonials

Have you had any new testimonials come through lately that aren’t on your website yet? Add them! These are such a powerful tool for signing new business so making sure they are updated is important. On the flip side, now is also a great time to check in with past clients to ask if they wouldn’t mind writing a testimonial for you.

Case Studies/Clients You’ve Worked With

The new year is also the perfect time to review your portfolio (if you have one) as well as any mentions of clients you’ve worked with. Updating your portfolio makes sure that you’re showcasing work that aligns with your style or capabilities. We’re always improving! Also if you have any mention of clients you work with on your website, it’s also a great time to make sure everything is up to date.

Photos

Could the photos on your website use a refresh? Now is a great time to upload more recent headshots or photos throughout. Or if you’re realizing they could use an update, it’s also a great time to reach out to a photographer about a branding shoot!

I hope this advice has been helpful! As always, if you need further help with your website don’t hesitate to reach out!
